The Marcos Family + Their Tiny Miracle

Back in the month of May I held a Mother's Day Photo Contest. I had asked mother's to post a photo of themselves with their littles, and to write a sweet caption about what motherhood means to them. The turn out was great! There were so many great entries it was definitely hard to choose, but there was one that stood out. I had my husband take a look, and he happened to choose the same photo that I did. It was of a mother named Janessa Marcos and her daughter Audrey Anberlin. Some of you may recognize Janessa as the front woman of this kickass indie rock band named Prevail. Their photo was just too cute, and in some ways reminded me of myself and my daughter. I loved her caption as well.

Her caption said: "Motherhood to me is having unconditional love, is having absolutely no privacy whatsoever, patience, understanding but most of all learning that time is precious and to enjoy every second you have with your child. This little girl has changed me and everyday she makes me a better person. She's my miracle and true blessing. I'm forever thankful to be called her Mommy." ...And her daughter really was her miracle and true blessing. I discovered that Janessa and her husband Jamey had gotten pregnant 5 years ago, but sadly had a miscarriage at 10 weeks. After having trouble concieving for years, they decided to seek a fertility specialist where after a year they discovered that Janessa had endometriosis (a disorder in which tissue that normally lines the uterus grows outside the uterus) which she needed to have surger to fix. So, she went through with the surgery.... "FInally after being on every fertiltiy drug known to mankind and over 14 rounds of IUI's, our last try was invitro, they planted two embryos and only one stuck... and that was Audrey," Janessa shared. Janessa went on to say that she had a much better understanding for those who could not get pregnant. Hearing all that really put things into perspective for me also... I could totally empathize... I see my own daughter, and I can't imagine not being able to be a mother. It is the one thing that I love most about my life. It really is the greatest gift from God. After learning their story and getting to know Janessa a little more, I just knew in my heart she was the right choice. I knew that I chose the best winner for this contest, and I knew that these photos would mean so much to their family. With that said, here are the beautiful photos that we took during their session! (Also featuring our awesome DIY teepee that my husband helped me make, and that cute little dream catcher that my best friend made just for this shoot :)!) Enjoy!

Thanks for being so open with me, and not only letting me be a part of your story, but allowing me to share it! I wish your family the best of luck on your new adventure in Washington! My family and I are so blessed to be able to call you our new friends. XOXO
